In 2000, the Government published a road safety strategy which was aimed at a 40% reduction in the number of people killed or seriously injured, a 50% reduction in the number of children killed or seriously injured and a 10% reduction in the slight casualty rate (expressed as the number of people slightly injured per 100 million vehicle kilometers), by 2010.
Operating at a number of camera sites across Liverpool, Wirral, Sefton, Knowsley and St Helens, the Merseyside Road Safety Partnership has been working towards these targets since its formation in April 2005.
