There were 4,803 reported casualties on roads in Merseyside in 2009 - 11% fewer than in 2008. 46 people were killed - 4.5% more than in 2008, whilst 507 people were seriously injured - 0.2% fewer than in 2008 and 4,250 people were slightly injured - 11.7% fewer than in 2008.
