Saturday 6th February

An elderly woman was taken to hospital following a crash in Fazakerley.  The junction of Delagoa Road and Manica Crescent had to be closed after two cars collided.  The impact of the crash caused the rear passenger door of a silver Citroen Picasso to rip open and become welded to the bonnet of a blue Suzuki Wagon R.  The Citroen then skidded and hit a nearby lamp-post before smashing through a garden fence.  Both drivers are believed to be female.  The collision happened just after 4pm during rush hour yesterday and the road was closed while the cars were cleared away.  A spokeswoman for Merseyside Fire and Rescue, said: “There was a two car collision and an elderly woman was taken to hospital.”  Liverpool Echo.

Monday 8th February

UP TO five people were injured when a bus and lorry smashed into each other at a busy city centre road junction.  The collision between the single-decker Stagecoach bus and DAF truck happened shortly before 9.10am today.  It led to the junction of Berry Street and Duke Street being blocked by the two vehicles.  Merseyside police today said between two and five people who were passengers on the 82D bus received minor injuries.  Liverpool Echo.

Tuesday 9th February

One of Wirral’s major roads will be closed to allow works on the final stages of a roundabout.  The closure affects theA540 Telegraph Road in west Wirral from its junction with Pikes Hey Road to the junction with Church Lane.  The closure will be in place from 7pm on February 19 until 6am on February 22.  It may be necessary to close the road again the following weekend, from 7pm on February 26 to 6am on March 1.  Traffic travelling north will be diverted via Pensby Road, Irby Road, Manor Road, Mill Hill Road, Hill Bark Road and Montgomery Hill. Traffic travelling southbound will be diverted via Montgomery Hill, Hill Bark Road, Mill Hill Road, Thingwall Road, Irby Road and Pensby Road.  Wirral News

Wednesday 10th February

Three people were taken to hospital after a car smash.  It happened on Raby Road, Thornton Hough, in Wirral, just before 8.30pm last night.  A car carrying a driver and two passengers collided with another car.  Fire crews had to cut through the roof of the first car.  A woman from that car was taken to hospital suffering from facial injuries. A man from the same car was also taken to hospital with neck injuries. The woman in the second car was treated for shock.  Liverpool Echo.

 

Firefighters had to cut the roof off a car to rescue a man whose vehicle ploughed into a central reservation in Wirral.  Crews from Birkenhead rushed to Borough Road at 10.30pm following the crash. The passenger suffered rib and neck injuries.  Liverpool Echo.

 

Two men suffered minor head injuries after their car crashed into a parked lorry in Bromborough.  The incident happened at 9.40 last night on Old Hall Road and left the Mercedes vehicle wedged underneath the HGV.  The men, in their 60s, were taken to hospital. Liverpool Echo
